Charles R. Schwartz concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury law, real estate law, commercial litigation, trust and estates, elder law, business law, taxation, and related litigation.
Mr. Schwartz attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York and graduated from the State University of New York at Albany and Albany Law School. While in law school, he served as Executive Editor for Research and Writing of Albany Law Review. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Albany County Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, Saratoga County Bar Association, and the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Schwartz frequently writes on matters related to taxation and business and lectures to senior organizations and attorneys on business planning topics as well as numerous elder law and estate planning topics, including estate and long-term care planning, advanced post-mortem planning, trust administration, probate proceedings, and formation of business entities.
Mr. Schwartz serves as Agency Counsel for the Amsterdam Industrial Development Agency, Town Attorney for the Town of Amsterdam, and is also the backup legal services provider for the Montgomery County Office of the Aging.
Mr. Schwartz resides in Amsterdam, New York with his wife Colleen, his children Reagan and Preston.
He is admitted before the courts of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and the U.S. Tax Court. Reported decisions include Hyde Park Motor Company, Inc. v.
